Vivian V V Guidry was born on July 6, 1927 to the late Herbert and Mary Lamury Stelly. She graduated from Sunset High School and finished her studies in Telegraphy. She worked in Los Angeles, CA for over a year and came home to marry the love of her life, Charlie A. Guidry, Jr. Vivian and Charlie came from strong Catholic roots; Vivian being from Grand Coteau and C.A. from Arnaudville.
After the birth of their fourth child, C.A. Guidry House of Quality, Inc. was established in 1950. Soon with the help of their young children, the business grew, as did their family. It wasnt long before it took three church pews to seat the entire Guidry family. As the children grew, the boys would help with the family business and the girls would help with chores of the home. It was such a blessing of having a fruit and vegetable wholesale business, because only healthy foods were a constant availability at the Guidry home. Having a shortage of milk in the home was never a problem a milk fountain was installed by Bordens and 40 gallons of milk was drunk weekly. Not to mention, a 5-gallon box of chocolate milk was given as a treat every now and then.
After C.A.s passing in 1991, Vivian became the C.E.O. of the family business. She stayed busy with many of her children running the family operation. She was often asked, How do you do it?, her answer to that was simple, We taught our children faith, how to prevail in life, academics, and business, and showed them love and discipline. As a team, Mom and Dad were wonderful. He had such patience and Mom, well lets just say, she had organizational skills.
She was parishioner of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church; a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary daily, offering petitions for those in need. Vivian was very active with Little Flower Catholic School for many years. She loved plants and decorating; yellow was her favorite color and she loved butterflies. She also loved to go dancing with the love of her life, her beloved husband, C.A.
