Henderson - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. ;on Friday, October 8, 2010, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Wade Joseph Dupuis, 86, who passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson . Scriptures will be read by Kayla Fruge and Cassie Payne. Gift Bearers and Eucharistic Ministers will be Newton and Della Dupuis. Musical selections will include, 'On Eagles Wings', 'Amazing Grace', 'Old Rugged Cross', and 'Battle Hymn of the Republic'. Mr. Dupuis, a devout Catholic, was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson , and was a member of the Holy Name Society. A member of the Brotherhood of Railway Conductors and Brakemen, he was employed by Southern-Pacific Railroad for 35 years and was retired for the past 26 years. After his retirement he became an avid gardener who loved to share his produce with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his daily routine of walking 3 miles and most especially spending time playing with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed the monthly family breakfast they had with their siblings and spouses. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 67 years, Anita Dupuis of Henderson; daughters, Jacki Boone, Irene Moore (Jeff), and Carolyn Fruge (Gus); brothers, Newton Dupuis (Della), Francis Dupuis (Sis), and Allen Dupuis; sister, Dot Huval; sisters-in-law, Grace, Emily, Rose, Jan, and Thelma Dupuis; grandchildren, Amanda Dupuis, Brady Boone, Benjamin Dupuis (Kristen), Barrett Payne (Cassie), Kayla Fruge; and great grandchildren, Alyssa Dupuis, Brianna and Gavin Payne, and Reagan Angelle. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Theresa Dupuis Brasseaux; his son, Carl James Dupuis; a grandson, Billy James Brasseaux; parents, Walter Dupuis, Sr. and Theresa Courville Dupuis; stepmother, Adaise Jeansonne Dupuis; brothers, Sprague, Anthon, Lloyd, Charles, and Walter Dupuis, Jr.; sister-in-law, Thelma Dupuis; and brother-in-law, Reeves Huval. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 9 a .m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Francis Dupuis, Brady Boone, Benjamin Dupuis, Barrett Payne, Gus Fruge, and Jeff Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Newton and Allen Dupuis. The family would like to extend special thanks to St. Agnes Nursing Home - Alzheimers Wing, to all staff, especially Deanna and Laura, and workers, and to St. Martin Hospital , affiliate of Lafayette General Medical Center of Lafayette, especially Dr. Warren Degatur and Dr. Deidre Stelly, nurses and aides, for their constant care and compassion given to him.
