Walter Duplantis

NewIberia - A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm, on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Walter Allen 'Dup' Duplantis, 58, who passed away on Monday, December 10, 2012. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville on Saturday, beginning at 8 am until 2:15 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 11 am by Deacon Marcel 'Butch' Hebert. Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Memorial Mass. Scriptures will be read by Julie Hulin and Janet Melancon. Gift Bearers will be his godchildren, Matthew Hulin and Brennen Duplantis. Inurnment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Duplantis was a veteran of the Vietnam War having honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was retired from Shell Oil after 31 years of loyal and dedicated service to his company, and was currently employed by Industrial Safety Solutions in Lafayette, as a consultant. Dup was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Frances Hulin Duplantis; one son, Chase Henry Duplantis and his wife, Meghan Young Duplantis; one daughter, Paige Landry and her husband, Chris; his brother, Jerry Joseph Duplantis and his wife, Carole; his sister, Patricia Dalbor and her husband, L.J.; and two granddaughters, Miyon Marie and Kaya Brielle Landry. He is also survived by his extended Shell Oil family and numerous close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gayton Joseph and Sadie Thibodeaux Duplantis; a grandson, Dax Landry; his in-laws, Hubert 'Bee' and Lorena B. Hulin; and his sister-in-law, Priscilla A. Hulin. Dup and his family would like to extend special thanks to his angels, Mike, Ray, and Troy, for making his final wish come true.
