Walter Sr. Johnson

Parks - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Walter Johnson, Sr., 64, who passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Southwest Medical Center, in Lafayette. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Father Stephen Ugwu will officiate at the funeral Mass. Mr. Johnson was a member of the True Friends of LaPointe. Survivors include three sons, Walter Johnson, Jr. (Tanya), of Lafayette, Michael Johnson, of Lafayette, and Aaron Johnson (Varetta), of Broussard; one brother, Calvin Johnson; three sisters, Odelia Breaux, Mabel Frances, and Rose Mae Savoy; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lorita Joseph Johnson; his parents, Victoria W. and Robert Johnson, Sr.; his daughter, Mercede Johnson; two brothers, Robert Johnson, Jr. and Martin Johnson; and three sisters, Olivia Pete, Louisiana Johnson, and Beatrice Johnson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 5 p.m. until time 10 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
