Our beloved mother, Wanda Tate passed away Thursday morning February 6, 2020, at her home in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. She peacefully took her last earthly breath in the loving company of her devoted son, Michael Tate, and her friend and caregiver Desaray Ledet.
Wanda was born and raised in Ville Platte, Louisiana, where she met and married her husband of 52 years, Robert Douglas Tate. Together, they lived and traveled around the world.
Wanda was gifted in creativity. She enjoyed sketching, painting, sewing, and floristry. She had an exceptionally green thumb in gardening. She enjoyed and excelled in cake decorating. Celebrations were always made brighter with her custom creations. She was an incredible cook and enjoyed cooking for her family.
Wanda had a beautiful, loving, gentle, and faithful spirit. She devoted her life to creating a happy home for her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She spent countless hours playing, snuggling, and spoiling her grandchildren. If you met her, you loved her.
Wanda leaves behind her three children, Michael Wayne Tate, Vickie Lynn Goff, and Susan Renee Tate Derigo. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Caleb Douglas Tate Goff, Jacob Dylan Goff, Genevieve Irene Tate, Isabella Miranda Tate, Alaina Lynn Derigo, and Emily Katherine Derigo; and her four siblings, Patricia Fontenot, Randy Darbonne, Charlene Johnson, and James Darnell Darbonne.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Douglas Tate, her beloved parents, Hosea and Mazel Darbonne, and her brother, Burnett Darbonne.
A family service will be held for Wanda at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 15, 2020. Deacon Marcel Hebert will officiate. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Calvary Cemetery immediately following the service.
