St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church in St. Martinville, for Wayne Ray Henson, 62, who passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009, at in Iberia Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Reverend Dor Langley, Reverend David Theriot, and Reverend Jessie Charpentier will officiate at the funeral service. Mr. Henson was a member of Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church in St. Martinville, where he served as Deacon. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, camping, and sports. He was a member of the St. Martinville Tigers Quarterback Club, and rarely missed a football game. Wayne assisted in coaching the Trinity Catholic Volleyball Team. He was a very loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Henson, of St. Martinville; three daughters, Leah Henson Theriot and husband, David, of Morgan City, Erica Lopez Poirier and husband, Barry, of St. Martinville, and Beth Henson, of Abbeville; two brothers, John Henson and wife, Sheila, of Carencro, and Ronald Sercovich and wife, Linda, of Kenner; one sister, Ellen Henson Champagne and husband, Larry, of St. Martinville; and seven grandchildren, Kristin Theriot, Kayla Theriot, Seth Theriot, Courtney Poirier, Bailey Poirier, Abbey Poirier, and Billy Poirier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henson, Jr. and Evelyn Pfalzgraf Henson. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
