New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 15, 2024, for Wayne Michael Provost, 57, who passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024.
Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau, with military honors by the Iberia Honor Guard.
Deacon Durk Viator will officiate.
Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm on Monday.
A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 11:00 am on Monday.
Wayne Michael Provost, a retired Master Electrician, was born in New Iberia, LA on May 18, 1967, and was a 1985 graduate of St. Martinville Senior High School. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp, where he spent a year of his four-year tour in Okinawa, Japan. His time in the military shaped him into the honorable and principled man that everyone knew and respected.
Wayne excelled not only in his career but also in various passions that made his life extraordinary. From a young age, he discovered his love for boxing and started honing his skills at the age of 11. His dedication and talent led him to be inducted into the Marine Corp Hall of Fame for boxing, a testament to his remarkable abilities in the ring.
Wayne had a deep affection for horses, finding solace and companionship in their gentle presence. He found joy and tranquility in their company, forming a special bond that brought him immense happiness throughout his life.
An avid football enthusiast, Wayne's heart belonged to LSU and the Saints. His passion for the game was infectious, and he reveled in cheering for his favorite teams.
Above all else, Wayne cherished spending time with his family. Their love and support were the foundation of his life.
Mr. Provost is survived by his wife, Jodie Hosley Provost; loving daughters, Alynn Dugas (Devin), and Hannah Provost; parents, Ronald Sr. and Sharon Boudreaux Provost; brother, Ronald “Boo” Provost Jr. (Shannon); sister, Shara Sonnier (Patches); niece, Alexis Sonnier; nephews, Chaz Provost and Brandon Romero; great-niece, Rylee Provost; and great-nephew, Mason Provost.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilman and Gert Provost, Audrey Mae Provost, and Alton and Ella Boudreaux.
Pallbearers will be Ronald “Boo” Provost Jr., Mike Plake, Colby Boudreaux, Chase Boudreaux, Colin Boudreaux, and Chad Vaughn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Provost Sr., Chaz Provost, Patches Sonnier, and Rickey Boudreaux.
Wayne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his spirit live on in our hearts forever.
