Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge for Wayne Theodore "Ted" Welch, Jr., Apache, 61, who died Thursday morning, March 23, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, after a lenghty illness from a motorcycle accident.
Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Ted was a graduate of the first graduating class of Northside High School in 1962. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Louisiana Purchases Antique Mall in Denham Springs and Louisiana Purchases Market in Breaux Bridge; and was a Past President of the D C Eagles MC, Illinois and a member of the W T Network.
Ted enjoyed expressing his opinion and would write "Letters to the Editor" to different newspapers. He was a stained glass artist and he lived to ride.
Ted married his high school sweetheart, Deanna in 1965 and they were married for five years. After being apart for several years, they remarried twenty-nine years later on the same day, August 21, 1994. Anyone who knew Ted, knew that "Ali" was the apple of his eye.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna Whittington Welch of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Wayne T. Welch, Sr. and Beverly Fisher Welch; and his sister, Rebecca Welch.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 12 Noon on Friday, March 24, 2006 and continue until time of service on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
Pallbearers will be Dave Ellison of Decatur, IL, Johnny Whittington of Denham Springs, Mike Guidry of Church Point, Tom Wanat of Helotes TX, Jeraud Lasseigne of Breaux Bridge, James "Jimbo" Guidry of Cypress Island, Sergio Olowski of San Antonio, TX; and Roy Cooper of Lafayette.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
