Wesley Charles Bienvenu, III was born in St. Martinville, Louisiana on February 14, 1952, to the late Wesley Charles Bienvenu, Jr. and Jessie Corrine Reasoner Bienvenu. For many years, he owned and operated Bienvenu Insurance Agency.

Wesley loved spending time at the family camps in Grand Isle, where he found joy in fishing, crabbing, camping, and BBQing on the beach. He created a lifetime of cherished family moments filled with laughter and love. His quick wit and humorous nature brought joy to those around him, as he could seamlessly recount jokes, particularly the classic Boudreaux and Thibodeaux tales, earning him a well-deserved first place out of 500 participants in a joke-telling contest.

He was an avid LSU fan, and delighted in attending games with his wife, Karen, and even constructed an impressive 800 square foot man cave dedicated to his favorite team. Wesley’s passion for life was evident in everything he did, reflecting his smart, creative, and humorous personality, all the while maintaining an admirable humility.

Wesley was a faithful man, dedicating his time to lead a prison ministry and Bible study at a correctional facility in St. Martinville, sharing his love for God and inspiring others. He was also adventurous, enjoying motorcycle rides, which began when he was a paper boy; the money he earned went towards purchasing his first bike. Wesley found joy in the simple pleasures in life, from flying radio-controlled planes in the country with his brothers to hustling on the pool table, where he was recognized as one of the top three players in Lafayette and won many awards.

Mr. Bienvenu is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Karen Hebert Bienvenu; children, Scott Bienvenu (Jade) of Midland, TX, Benjamin Bienvenu (Angie Hebert) of St. Martinville, Kelly Hebert Maturin of New Iberia, and Joey Hebert of New Iberia; siblings, Jan “J.R.” Bienvenu (Nina), Dennis Cornell Bienvenu (Elizabeth), and Raymond Bienvenu (Nadine); grandchildren, Devin Charles Hebert, Kailey Maturin, Charles Bienvenu, Ethan Bienvenu, Lexi Bienvenu, Brynna Hebert, and Emmi Hebert; great-grandchild, Ollie Hebert; sister-in-law, Carol Bienvenu; and beloved fur baby, Lola.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Alex Bienvenu; brother, Stephen Burchell Bienvenu; and beloved rooster, Rocky.

Pallbearers will be Devin Hebert, Scott Bienvenu, Benjamin Bienvenu, Raymond Bienvenu, Joey Hebert, Wayne Hebert, Mike Reasoner, and Lawrence Talley.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana and the Calcutta House for extraordinary care and compassion.

As we remember Wesley, let us hold dear the laughter, the love, and the memories he leaves behind. His life was a testament to the beauty of enjoying every moment, lifting others through humor, and grounding himself in faith. May he rest in peace.
