New Iberia - Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Oliver Nugent, 87, who passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Iberia Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday and continue at 8:00 am until time of service on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum in New Iberia. Mr. Oliver was a member of the Sertoma club. He enjoyed traveling and 'RVing' around the country. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially during holiday gatherings. He is survived by his wife, Iris Nugent of New Iberia; his sons, Robert (Dr. Janice) Nugent and Patrick (Lillian) Nugent; his sisters, Ruth Boudreaux and Virginia Yandle all of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Dr. Heath Nugent, Nicholas Nugent, and Steven Nugent; his great-grandchildren, Hayden Nugent, Bella Nugent, Noah Nugent, Kamdan Nugent, Garrett Nugent, Riley Nugent, and Theadore Nugent. He is preceded in death by his father, Alonzo Nugent Sr.; his mother, Essie Deare Nugent; and his brothers, Malcom Eddie Nugent and Alonzo Lee Nugent Jr. Pallbearers will be Robert Nugent, Patrick Nugent, Leon Minvielle III, Dr. Heath Nugent, Nicholas Nugent, and Steven Nugent. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Conlon (deceased) and Alvin Breaux (deceased).
