Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Weston J. Usie, 95, who passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 8:00 am until 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Rene Usie and Jennifer Usie. Gift bearers are Eula Mae Usie and Carla Usie. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Weston, better known as "T-Wes", was born to the late Elfeg and Hermine Courville Usie in Cecilia, Louisiana. Weston being one of 13 children is where his story begins. His family survived many trials, including the great flood of 1927. T-Wes was full of life and loved his family. He enjoyed watching the Breaux Bridge High School Tigers, playing Bourr, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. T-Wes was a fisherman, fishing crawfish until he was 89 years old. He fished in the first crawfish pond in Duson, Louisiana. He loved French music and would never miss a festival, traveling all over with his wife, Ruth. T-Wes was the 2003 Crawfish King. His favorite vacation spot was Holly Beach. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be remembered for his dedication and love for his family and friends. T-Wes always said, "I'm 79 during the day, and 55 at night!" He is survived by his sons, Mike Usie and wife Rene, and Jimme Usie and wife Carla; his daughters, Patricia "Pat" Usie, and Shelia Belaire; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Ruth Dor Usie; his parents, Elfeg and Hermine Courville Usie; a daughter, Emily Usie; two sons, Gerald "Jay" Usie and Gary James Usie; and a son-in-law, Darrell "Popeye" Belaire. Pallbearers will be Mike Usie, Jimme Usie, Gary Jules Usie, Wayne Usie, Nick Theriot, and Lance Theriot.
