Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia for Whitney J. Chevalier, Sr., 73, who passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 8:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Neil Pettit will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Mr. Whitney was born on January 19, 1945 to the late Clifton and Editha Roberts Chevalier. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served our country honorably. Whitney served as a board member for Council on Aging for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing Dominoes, and shooting pool, but most of all, he loved riding around in town visiting family and friends. Whitney was known to many as a master electrician and taught many years at vocational schools. He is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Maydell Babineaux Chevalier; sons, Troy Chevalier and wife Carmen of Houston, TX, Chad Dartez and wife Laticia of Breaux Bridge, and Whitney Chevalier, Jr. of Arnaudville; daughters, Pamela Chevalier-Jensen and husband Jason of Houston, TX, Yolanda Cook and husband Jason of Lafayette, and Deidra Chevalier of Arnaudville; stepdaughters, Jocelyn Kirksey and husband Michael of Houston, TX and Florence Roy of Houston, TX; brothers, Wilbert Chevalier of Arnaudville, William Chevalier and wife Kathleen of Arnaudville, and Earl Chevalier and wife Joann of New Orleans; sisters, Anna Auguillard of Cecilia and Lou Anna Angelle and husband Jeff of Lafayette; and 12 grandchildren. Macey Boyd, Kayman Zenon, Kinzli Zenon, Kingston Chevalier, Kalis Cook, Christian Cook, Chaslyn Dartez, Chase Dartez, Matthew Chevalier, Marissa Chevalier, Pete Nicholas Medina, and Marcus Kyle Babineaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Chevalier, Sr. and Editha Roberts Chevalier; brother, Clifton Chevalier, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Kingsley Chevalier. Pallbearers will be Matthew Chevalier, Marcus Babineaux, Pete Medina, Kayman Zenon, Curtis Aguillard, and Earl Chevalier, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia, 2238 Bushville Hwy., Cecilia, LA 70521, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
