Wilbert Degeyter

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, October 9, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Wilbert Degeyter, 87, who passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Wilbert enjoyed cooking, fishing, working in his shop, maintaining his yard, gardening, and spending time with dog, Rusty. He will be remembered by his friends in the community for the love he had for people, and his assisting parishioners in crossing the street for weekly Masses at St. Bernard Catholic Church. He is survived by his son, James Degeyter and wife Sharleen of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Janice Delahoussaye of Breaux Bridge, Vorena Boyer and husband Larry of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Wildie Roberts of Breaux Bridge, and Elaine Perioux and husband Ivy of St. Martinville; brother, Lloyd Degeyter of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Sandi Orson and spouse Jon, Bryan Delahoussaye and companion, Kimberly, Toby Degeyter and spouse Cherri, Tanner Degeyter and fiance, Rachael, April Boyer, Adam Boyer, and Alex Boyer; great grandchildren, Tristan Orson, Ashton Orson, Carmen Degeyter, and Tagen Degeyter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelbert and Inez Frederick Degeyter; brothers, William Degeyter and Wilson Degeyter; sister, Anna Mae Menard; and his son-in-law, Gerald Delahoussaye.
