Wilbert Duplechin

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, December 21, 2007, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Wilbert Duplechin, 75, who passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Rev. Fr. Paul LaFleur, pastor of St. Bernard Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral service. Mr. Duplechin was an avid gardener, who loved to cook and enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by three daughters, Diana Duplechin Thibodeaux and her husband, Randy, of Breaux Bridge, Sherry Duplechin Lormand and her husband, Randy, of Baton Rouge, and Rachel Duplechin Ramsey and her husband, Ben, of Lafayette; one son, Kenneth Joseph Duplechin and his wife, Donna, of Broussard; one step daughter, Brenda Miller and her husband, Paul, of Alexandria; two step sons, Gary Champagne and his wife, Ellen, of Breaux Bridge, and Russel Champagne and his wife, Rhonda, of Kountz, TX; two sisters, Emily Perio, of Baytown, TX, and Elsie Jane Guidroz, of Arnaudville; one brother, Harold Duplechin, of Arnaudville; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Stelly Duplechin; his parents, Henry and Eloise Pontiff Duplechin; and three brothers, Russell, Paul, and John Ray Duplechin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Duplechin, Randy Lormand, Harold Duplechin, Lance Thibodeaux, Kyle Ramsey, and Lane Duplechin. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Thibodeaux, Lucas Thibodeaux, Jeremy Lormand, Ryan Lormand, Gary Champagne, and Ben Ramsey. The family would like to express special gratitude to Mary Lee LaGrange for her love and care provided to Mr. Duplechin during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
