Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, for Wilbert Soularie, Jr., 66, who passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home on Saturday, from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am. Fr. Lambert Lein, SVD, Pastor of St. Anthony Catholic Church, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Wilbert was a veteran of the Vietnam War, honorably serving his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. During his enlistment he was stationed at many posts abroad before retiring at Jacksonville Air Force Base. He was a mechanic and worked for the Pepsi Company for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Wilbert was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers. He was a great advocate of the National Alliance for Mental Illness. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his 14 grandchildren, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Louise Soularie; his sons, Wilbert Soularie, III, Richard Soularie; step sons, David Crook and Troy Crook; step daughter, Jessica Crook; his father, Wilbert Soularie, Sr.; his brothers, Ricky Soularie, Wilbert Thomas, and James Soularie; his sister, Elizabeth "Liz" Stagg; and 14 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Soularie; a brother, Leroy Wiltz; maternal grandparents, Cassimere and Estelle Honore Edmond; and paternal grandparents, Victor and Lorena Sylvester Soularie. Pallbearers will be Ricky Soularie, Wilbert Soularie, III, Richard Soularie, Xavier Stagg, Ivory Stagg, Jr., and Ivory Stagg, III.
