William Lee Bammel

Leroy, LA - William Lee Bammel was born on Valentine's Day, 1932, in Austin, TX, and died in Arnaudville, LA, on May 26, 2015. He was surrounded by family when he peacefully passed into the next life. A Memorial Service will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 29, 20015, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Leroy, Louisiana. Afterwards, there will be a gathering of family and friends at Bill's home in Leroy. Private burial will be held at later date. Bill graduated in 1955 from University of Texas with a degree in Physics. Post-graduation he performed his military service in the U.S. Army Signal Corp, and then later as an M.P. Upon completion of his military service, he found a career as a geophysicist for Atlantic Richfield (ARCO). He traveled the world over in search of oil - from the China Sea to the coast of Chile, from Sanora, TX to the Java Sea. He provided his family a life of adventure and security that eventually led to Acadiana, his wife's homeland. Bill eventually retired in Leroy, LA in 1984, and became an avid, successful investor until his passing. He is survived by his son, Christopher Bammel of Alamagordo, NM, and his daughters Stephanie Knott and Erica Spencer-Lee of Arnaudville, LA.; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Della Bammel, longtime residents of Austin, TX; two children, Stacy and John Bammel; and his beloved wife of 47 years, Marie Ann Bammel of Leroy, LA.
