New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at St. Peter Catholic Church, in New Iberia for William "Bill" Bayard, 63, who died Thursday, April 10, 2008.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum.
Rev. Allen Breaux will be the Celebrant.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Bill was a 1963 graduate of Catholic High. He was a quarterback for the CHS Panthers and was proud to have been a team player that lead them to the 1962 State Championship. Bill then attended USL where he received his bachelors degree in electrical engineering. His love for football continued in college where again he joined his USL Bulldogs team to victory in the 1965 Gulf State Conference. Bill along with his wife Peggy have owned and operated Bayard Engineering since 1990. Bill enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking, hunting, hiking and playing Bourre'. ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ; ;
Survivors include his wife Peggy Green Bayard of New Iberia; his sons, William J. Bayard III and James D. Bayard, both of Lafayette; his mother, Marge Bayard of New Iberia; sister, Margery Kohnke and husband Morris of Madisonville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dalton Jules Bayard and sister, Eva LeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Greig, Chester Gosnell, Judge John Conery, Mike Neustrom and Randy Domingue.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
