William 'Tom' Joseph Broussard, Jr.

William "Tom" Joseph Broussard, Jr. Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 11, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for William "Tom" Joseph Broussard, Jr., 88, who passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at his residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Tom was a self-employed sugarcane farmer, who loved spending time and visiting with family and friends. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII, and he was a member of American Legion for 50 years. Tom enjoyed gardening, carpentry, trail riding, and horse shows, and was a member of Pont Breaux Saddle Club, Teche Riders, and Salt Grass Trail Riders. He is survived by his loving spouse of 66 years, Stella Jane Hebert Broussard; his sister, Ivy Lou B. Richard; one son, William Keith Broussard and wife Janet; three daughters, Cynthia Duplechien and husband Dudley, Martha Broussard, and Lisa Sonnier and husband Rocky; his son-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Campbell, III; his grandchildren, Kelcie Campbell, Kamron Campbell, Amy Duplechien Scrantz and spouse Bryan, Patti Duplechien Rood and spouse Chris, William Justin Broussard, Baylon Sonnier, Elise Sonnier; and his great-grandchildren, Alex, Ayden, Asa, Anistyn, and Ardyn Rood, and Colyn and Elly Scrantz. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacie Campbell; parents, Willie and Martha Guidry Broussard; brothers, Larkin Broussard, Percy Broussard, Irving Broussard, Sr., Andrew Pierre, Ivan J., Howard Pete, sisters, Louella "Poulet" Baudoin, May B. LeBlanc, Alice B. Frederick, and Beulah B. Deshotel. Pallbearers will be Robert "Bobby" Campbell III, Kamron Campbell, William Justin Broussard, Baylon Sonnier, Rocky Sonnier, and Terry Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be William Keith Broussard and Dudley Duplechien. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
