Williard W. Daspit, Sr.

A Memorial Service is pending for Willard William Daspit, Sr., 85, who passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017, in St. Martinville. Mr. Willard honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion and AARP. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed creating Bonsai trees with copper, making walking canes for those in need, traveling, dancing, gardening, and watching old western movies and the National Geographic Channel. He was known to many as a Jack-of-all-trades and because of his numerous talents, there was nothing he couldnt do. He is survived by his daughter, Liz Marie Daspit of Carencro; son, Willard William Daspit, Jr. and wife Lara of St. Martinville; brother, Raymond Daspit and wife Dorothy of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Malandy A. Daspit, Felicia Faye Cummings, Shelly Fatima Daspit, Emily A. Daspit, and Justin Emmanuel Marceau; and great grandchildren, Ava, Brianna, GioVanni, Ezran, Stevie, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lezima Segura Daspit; his wife, Isabelle Durand Daspit; an infant daughter; several brothers and a sister. In Willards last days he enjoyed spending time with his caregiver, Laurie Toups and her family and friends. He said, he felt like he was being treated like a king!
