Willie J. Champ, Jr.

St. Martinville - A private service for the immediate family will be held for Willie Champ, Jr., 83, who passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:00 am until 10:30 am on Tuesday. Due to COVID-19, the family requests that all guest who attend the visitation wear a mask and limit the time spent at the funeral home. Willie was a member of Golden Keys Social and Civic Club in St. Martinville. He enjoyed working, outdoor cooking, and field service ministry. In his spare time, he volunteered at his Kingdom Hall serving others. Willie was a family man; a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Alexander Champ of St. Martinville; son, Christopher D. (Vonice) Champ of Dallas; daughter, Melissia M. (Kelvin) Evans of Alexandria; two grandchildren, Austin L. Evans and Xavier D. Champ; two brothers, Harold (Violet) Champ of Houston and Wilmer (Gardenia) Champ of Houston; sister, Audrey Provost of St. Martinville; sister in-law, Patsy Alexander; a special cousin, Charles Lee of Carencro; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Champ, Sr and Salen Leon Champ; brother, Howard (Gertrude) Champ; and brother-in-laws, Joseph Provost, Russell Alexander and Joseph Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin L. Evans, Xavier D. Champ, Kelvin Evans, Dwayne Alexander, Charles Lee, Leroy Hill, James Jones, Lilton Watkins and Cornel Alexander.
