Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 28, 2018, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Willie "Jim" James Stelly, 76, who passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7:00 am until 12:30 pm.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
Rev. Travis Abadie will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Carl Stelly and Linda Bernard. Gift bearers will be his two daughters and four granddaughters. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Willie "Jim" was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. In his younger years, he would crawfish in his crawfish pond and was also a bee keeper. Jim was a kid at heart and could always make you laugh with his jokes. He loved his family dearly and cherished every minute spent with them. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 55 years, Viola Guilbeau Stelly; sons, Phillip J. Stelly and wife Linda Jean and Timothy W. Stelly and wife Janet; daughters, Jacqueline A. Stelly and Brandi D. Brasseaux and husband Cory; sisters, Grace Marks and Doris Richard; brothers, Earl Stelly and wife Lena, and John Calvin Stelly and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Lanie Stelly and spouse Alfred, Tyler Stelly and spouse Nicole, Seth Stelly, Keiffer Stelly and spouse Jessica, Chase Brasseaux, Emily Kennison and spouse Blake, Kennedy Stelly, Justin Brasseaux and Gabrielle Brasseaux; and great grandchildren, Evan, Jamison, Owen, CJ, Jaxson, Serenity, Kayleigh, and Addison.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kirvee Woodard; granddaughter, Kayla Stelly; parents, Louis L. and Alma Miller Stelly; brothers, Louis "Liss" J. Stelly, Antoine "Teta" Stelly, and Joseph "T-Joe" Stelly; and sister, Velma "Sis" Olivier.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for the care and support given to Jim in his time of need.
Pallbearers will be Phillip J. Stelly, Timothy W. Stelly, Tyler Stelly, Seth Stelly, Keiffer Stelly, Chase Brasseaux, and Justin Brasseaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Stelly, John Calvin Stelly, Randy Olivier, Peter Stelly, Jordan Bernard, Cory Brasseaux, Alfred Stelly, and Blake Kennison.
