Willie Price

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 12:15 p.m., on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Willie Roy 'Billy' Price, 70, who passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Courtyard Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Fr. Augustinus Seran, SVD, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Kristina Ratliff and Patricia Williams. Gift Bearers will be Althea Dalcourt, his sister, Lorita Jean Batiste, Sadie Guilliam, and Beatrice Johnson. Eucharistic Ministers will be Steven Batiste, Sr. and Minda Batiste. Mr. Price worked as a crew deputy with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department and was also a sugarcane farmer, as well as raising cattle, pigs, chickens, and enjoyed vegetable gardening. He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, and making daily calls to his friend, Peter Johnson. He was a very giving person and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Price was a member of member of the Goodwill Society, Louisiana Cattleman's Association, and St. Martin Parish Farm Service Agency, where he served as Minority Advisor. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Verna Lewis Price, of St. Martinville; his son, Ezra Price; three sisters, Lorita Jean Batiste (Alton 'T-Sam'), of Cade, Rita Levy (Dr. Chester Levy), of Port Arthur, TX, and Hilda Charles, of St. Martinville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacy A. Price; a son, Michael W. Price; his mother, Alberta Solomon Scypion; his father, Rogers Price; his brother, Solomon Scypion; his sister, Leona Lee (Harris); his twin brother, Willis R. Price; and his brother-in-law, Nolan Charles, Sr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited on Saturday morning. Pallbearers will be Kevin J. Johnson, Juma Johnson, Glenn P. Johnson, Jr., Delaney F. Johnson, Douglas Simon, Jr., Allen Simon, Lawrence Sam, and Troy Francois. Honorary pallbearers will be Ezra Price, George Lewis, Jr., Alfred Dugas, Roger Craig Simon, Stephan Cormier, Glenn Peter Johnson, Sr., Wilmer Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Raymond Sam, Howard Ratliff, Dr. Chester Levy, Alton 'T-Sam' Jean Batiste, his godchild, Nolan Charles, Jr., Errol Solomon, Sr., George Solomon, Sr., Paulma Johnson, Glen Johnson, Ralph Sam, Ronald Charles, Sr., Phillip Simon, Sr., and Woody Davis, Sr. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
