Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Mrs. Willis Joseph Guidry, Sr., the former Levie Guidry, 94, who passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Mrs. Guidry was retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years of loyal and dedicated service. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and she was also a member of the V.F.W. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and smocking, working in her flower beds, traveling with her family and friends, and she most especially enjoyed cooking for her family for gatherings on any given occasion. Survivors include two sons, Nicky Guidry and his wife, Rama, Brian Guidry and his wife, Mary; her daughter, Estelle G. Guidry and her husband, Darwin; her sister, Rose Mae Hollier; six grandchildren, Will Guidry and his wife, Dana, Cher Soignier and her husband, Brian, Tara Arnaud and her husband, Jamie, Michael Guidry and his wife, Gabby, Jules Guidry, and Rachael Guidry; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Joseph Guidry, Sr.; and her parents, Marine and Estelle Blanchard Guidry. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening. Pallbearers will be Will Guidry, Michael Guidry, Jules Guidry, Rob Hollier, Royce Hollier, and Reggie Hollier. Honorary pallbearer will be Sonny Hollier. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
