Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Willis J. Babin, 91, who passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 am until 10:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday morning.
Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
After honorably serving in the United States Army, Willis pursued various occupations with utmost diligence. From serving in the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department to working in the oilfield industry, he demonstrated unwavering commitment and perseverance in every role he undertook. Additionally, he also served as a bus driver for the St. Martin Parish School Board and was also employed at Walmart.
One of the defining aspects of Willis' life was his unwavering devotion to his family and community. He found joy in dancing with his beloved wife and cherished every moment spent with their children and grandchildren. Willis had an open heart and always extended a helping hand to those in need; he never turned anyone away or hesitated to lend his support whenever possible. He also found joy in hunting and barbecuing.
His devout faith was at the core of Willis' life. A faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, he lived a spirtual and prayerful life. Willis was also a member of the True Friends Society. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Annie Belle Wiltz Babin; daughters, Dora Babin and Gwendolyn Galentine (Clifford); sons, Robert Vallier, Jr. and Rodney Vallier (Rochelle); grandchildren, Demetric Babin, Willie Babin, Charmaine Vallier, Roderick Vallier, Brannon Galentine, Bethanie Galentine, Devin Vallier and Bryson Vallier; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Audrey Wiltz and Ethel Broussard; a very special and devoted niece and god-daughter, Linda Abraham; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his former wife, Mary Ella Babin; parents, Evain Babin and Armance Wiltz Babin; sisters, Evelyn Clement and Anna Mae Abraham; and brothers, Milton Babin, Dalfred Dalcourt and Joseph Babin.
Pallbearers will be Demetric Babin, Willie Babin, Bryson Vallier, Devin Vallier, Roderick Vallier and Dennis Potier.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Vallier, Rodney Vallier, Clifford Galentine, Brannon Galentine, Alan Paul, Don Thibodeaux, Michael Wiltz, John Wiltz, Wallace Ledet, Jr., Wallace Wiltz, Sr., Zigler Joseph, David Davis, Patrick Broussard, Nathan Broussard, Kenneth Broussard, Mark Broussard and Clayton Babin.
