Mrs. Trahan was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia. Wilma was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved her family dearly and was always there for her grandchildren. She was a hard worker and a good listener; a very spiritual, charitable and giving person. A devout Catholic, she loved the Lord and considered herself his servant, serving his people, assisting anyone in need, "If you need me, I will be there" always being there when anyone needed her. Wilma loved visiting with family and friends on any occasion, and she will be sadly missed by them and anyone she may have met who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her as well. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Claude Trahan, Jr., of Cecilia; two sons, Lynn Trahan and his wife, Patricia, and Melvin Trahan, all of Lafayette; one daughter, Rebecca LeBlanc and her husband, Andy, Sr., of Cecilia; one brother, Wallace Calais, of Cecilia; 6 grandchildren, Timothy Trahan and his wife, Pam, Ty Trahan, Sonya Briscoe and her husband, Jason, Bridgette Roberts and her husband, Danny, Andy LeBlanc, Jr. and his wife, Dana, and Ahja Trahan; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean Batiste "France" and Palmiere Huval Calais; two brothers, Lanley and Holden Calais; and one sister, Vivian Patin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday. A rosary will be recited by Alcus Trahan at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening. Pallbearers will be Lynn Trahan, Melvin Trahan, Timmy Trahan, Andy LeBlanc, Sr., Andy LeBlanc, Jr., and Ivy Jarreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Calais and Ty Trahan. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
