Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, September 2, 2019, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Wilson "LaLa" Joseph Lalonde, 82, who passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Rev. Travis Abadie will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Lydia Miller and Taylor Bergeron. Gift Bearers will be Trina Stelly and Kendra Guillot.
Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Wilson honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #5153, American Legion Post #278, Leonville Honor Guard, Arnaudville Honor Guard, and was the Post Commander for the American Legion for 17 years. Wilson enjoyed gardening, barbecuing, canning beets alongside his wife, Ethel Lee, working with barrel horses, and telling stories of his days while stationed in Korea. Wilson worked hard all of his life and after retirement, he and his wife Ethel Lee went to work for Pellerin Funeral Home as Funeral Attendants for 17 years. Wilson will be remembered for that mischievous look he always had in his eyes, the unconditional love he had for his family, and a known fact that he did everything he could to provide a good life for his family all of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ethel Lee Angelle Lalonde; son, Raphael James Lalonde; daughters, Katharina "Kathy" Bergeron and husband Frank Lee, and Libbie Richard and husband Kenneth, all of Arnaudville; brother, Octave Lalonde and wife Helen of Texas; sister, Laura Savoie of Arnaudville; grandchildren, TJ Bergeron, Trina Stelly, Lydia Miller, Travis and Todd Bergeron, and Kendra Guillot; step-grandchildren, Luke and Jessica Young and Kirk Bergeron; 14 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Amilia Eunice Boudreaux Lalonde; sister, Clara Trahan; grandson, Mark Richard; great-grandchild, Sydney Bergeron; step-grandsons, Joshua Young and Frank Bergeron, Jr.; and his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Dieu Donna and Luce Angelle.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Bergeron, Travis Bergeron, Todd Bergeron, Ryan Guillot, Johnny Stelly, and Braydon Miller.
