New Iberia ;- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Wilton Delahoussaye who died Sunday, May 3, 2009 in Lafayette. ; Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. ; Rev. Ruben Primor will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Amy Delahoussaye and Angela Delahoussaye. Gift Bearers include Tommy Delahoussaye, Sr. and Diana Delahoussaye. ; Born on August 19, 1924 in Delcambre, Mr. Delahoussaye was employed as a shop foreman with the City of New Iberia until his retirement. He was a retired horse trainer and a retired member of the H.B.P.A. During his tenure as a horse trainer, Mr. Delahoussaye was selected as the top trainer and received awards for outstanding trainer for three years prior to his retirement. Mr. Delahoussaye proudly served our country as a Private First Class for four years in the U.S. Army. He served in the Philippines during World War II , and received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal with Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Honorable Service Lapel Button, World War II Philippine Liberation Medal with Bronze Service Star. ; Survivors include his sons, David J. Delahoussaye and wife Ellen of West Monroe, Tommy J. Delahoussay, Sr. and wife Diana of St. Martinville, Gregory J. Delahoussaye and wife Tracey of New Iberia, Brent C. Delahoussaye and fianc Jamie Chadwick of New Iberia; daughters, Deanna "Dee" Landry of New Iberia, Patsy Delahoussaye of New Iberia; brother, C.D. Delahoussaye of New Iberia; grandchildren, Shantell ;Provost and husband Lance, Dale Breaux and wife Robin, Deidre LeBlanc and husband Colby, Amy Delahoussaye, Michael S. Delahoussaye and wife Amanda, Angela Delahoussaye and fianc Ryder Degeyter, Tommy J. Delahoussaye, Jr. and wife Misty, Tara Toups, Tara Borel and husband Lucas, Taylor Delahoussaye, Brendan Delahoussaye, Dustin Labit; great grandchildren, Kyli Michaud, Courtney Breaux, Kelcie Michaud, Joshua Breaux, Lance Provost, II, Ashely Brunning, Alyssa Delahoussaye, Christian Brunning, Noah LeBlanc, Zachary Breaux, Megan Delahoussaye, Andrew LeBlanc, Jesse James Delahoussaye, Taylin Nicole Babb, Gabriele Degeyter, Brayden Babb, Cole Delahoussaye; several nieces and nephews. ; He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Leola Comeaux Delahoussaye, parents, Clesmae and Alicia Gary Delahoussaye; son, Jessie James Delahoussaye; brothers, Dulais Delahoussaye, Theodore Kellogg Delahoussaye, Ignace Delahoussaye, Austin Delahoussaye; sisters, Duclacia Dore, Ducretia Rogers, Rosie Romero, Dorothy Schaubert, Mary Jane Landry; great grandson, Tyler LeBlanc. ; Pallbearers will be Brent C. Delahoussaye, Michael S. Delahoussaye, Tommy J. Delahoussaye, Jr., Taylor Delahoussaye, Lance Provost, and Johnny Romero. ; Honorary pallbearers include C.D. Delahoussaye, Lance Provost, II, Dale Breaux, Brendan Delahoussaye, Harry Landry, Jr., and Gary "Chief" Durand. ; The family would like to give special thanks to his special sister-in-law, Clara Bergeron for all her loving care. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 12 Noon until 12:30 PM Wednesday at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
